The perfect wardrobe

All right, it might not become perfect (one always needs to have stuff to crave for, right?), but with these tips you might be able to get at least 5 steps closer to an ideal wardrobe.

1. Raid your closet
To me, this one is very important. Every season I carefully go through my closet, looking for stuff that needs to go and things that could stay for another season. Some strictness might be in place here, otherwise it won't help. You don't want clothes you don't even wear anymore to pile up over the years. If you are in doubt about a certain piece, try leaving it out of your wardrobe for a while and see if you miss it. If not, it should go. If it's still in good condition, you might want to sell it, on Tictail for example.

2. Choose your basics
Here comes the fun part: after "detoxting" your wardrobe, it's time to pick new items. For me, it always helps to start with a few basic wardrobe staples and build from there. Think perfect tees, a pretty pair of jeans or a nice jacket. As these pieces are the pillars of your wardrobe, you might want to spend a little more on them. You don't have to smash your piggy bank of course, just bare in mind to always choose quality over quantity.

3. Make lists
This is not only very helpful, it's really fun to do as well. Creating so-called wish lists can give you a clear overview of things you would like to add to your wardrobe, and might even prevent an impulse purchase you later regret.

4. If in doubt, don't do it
If you are uncertain about buying something, don't! Take your time to think it through before you do the actual purchase. Especially when the item is rather wallet unfriendly.

5. Sort your wardrobe content
Personally, I always try to arrange the clothes in my closet by color. It looks neat and you don't have to stress out over that dress you cannot seem to find.

  5. These are great tips. I always try to stick with- if I really like it I'm getting. Lately I have been very good and not shopping, but rethinking what my wardrobe is needed.
